Shop Local This Holiday Season

Support your community by shopping local this holiday season! Below are some opportunities to patronize local businesses and buy from local farmers during the months of November and December.

Downtown Annapolis Partnership will be supporting Small Business Saturday on November 25, 2017.  Small Business Saturday has become an annual event for our Annapolis business districts.  Traditionally held on the Saturday following Thanksgiving, the day is devoted to supporting your local independent retailer. Look for special events in each district to encourage you to Shop your favorite local small retailers. Downton Annapolis Partnership will soon be updating its list of some Annapolis businesses offering specials for Small Business Saturday.

The Annapolis Arts Alliance will be hosting a Holiday Pop-Up Shop at 63 West Street Thursdays-Sundays in November and Wednesdays-Sundays in December. Visit their Facebook page for specific times.

Muddy Creek Artists Guild’s Holiday Show will be running again November 17-19 at the South River Colony Main Street Shopping Center in Edgewater (187-189 Mitchells Chance Road). The show is free to attend, there is free parking available, and everyone is invited to browse the artwork and shop for unique gifts for the holidays. Do you know a gardener in need of the perfect gift? Now you can buy sweet-smelling, fluffy compost as a holiday gift for the gardener in your life from Annapolis Green. Composed largely of crab shells, watermelon rinds, soup bits, hot dog leftovers, and compostable plates, trays, and cutlery, the compost from the 2017 Crab Feast is “cooking” right now and will be ready for December delivery. And finally, make sure to stop by the Anne Arundel County Holiday Farmers Market, located at Riva Road & Harry S. Truman Parkway. Hours are Saturdays, 7am to Noon and Sundays, 10am to 1pm. The following items will be offered this year: Seasonal produce, holiday greens, wreaths, roping, crafts, candles, gifts, caramels, folk art, jewelry, wood crafts, hand-sewn items, coffee, hot chocolate, hand-crafted glassware, jams & jellies, fermented foods, baked goods, pottery, wine, cheese, pork, lamb, chicken, beef and many other items for your holiday shopping list.
