Share Your Stories This Saturday!

MHAA Grant recipient “The Lost Towns Project” is honored to have local historian Janice Hayes-Williams give the keynote address for a Civil Rights public meeting this Saturday, January 27 from 12:00-2:00 pm at Bates Legacy Center, 1101 Smithville Street in Annapolis.  She will be speaking on the subject of segregated restaurants and organized protests and sits-in that took place in Annapolis during the Civil Rights era.

Hayes-Williams will provide a historical overview that ties directly into a collaborative project supported by the National Park Service Civil Rights African American Historic Preservation and Maryland Heritage Areas Authority.  These two grants focus on Civil Rights era sites of recreation and leisure in Anne Arundel County, as well as extending the African American Heritage Trail in South County, within the Four Rivers Heritage Area.

Please come to this public meeting and tell your own stories. Future generations need to know! Download the Flyer here: Public Meeting Flyer-Finalized With All Logos
