Here’s How You Can Help Ellicott City Recover | Four Rivers Heritage Area
Our colleague Jeff Buchheit of the Baltimore National Heritage Area has put together the following list of links and websites to help our friends and colleagues in Ellicott City. Please consider helping in one or more of the following ways:
- Give to the Emergency Flood Recovery Fund that has been established by Preservation Maryland. 100% of the proceeds will be used to help Ellicott City recover and restore historic properties.
- Preservation Maryland has also set up an e-mail distribution list where you can sign up to receive updates on how you can help.
- The Ellicott City Partnership has set up a website to accept financial donations for the recovery as well as a repository where you can volunteer.
- An additional website, Historic Ellicott City: Ready to Serve, has been set up to gather information about ways that people can help through donations of time, materials, etc. They are in special need of masks for mold protection, dust masks, shovels, bleach, buckets, mops, and rubber gloves.
- A Facebook page, Keep Ellicott City Working, has been set up where jobs can be posted to help those who will be out of work find employment. All job types are welcome for posting.
Jen Ruffner of the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority and Maryland Historical Trust adds this note:
We are working hard to get the right resources to the right people. We have been scouring photographs and video footage to start to get an inventory of building damage (until we can get boots on the ground to assess in person); we will be setting up a data collection document for folks to report the damage to their buildings (once they’re able to get back and see), and have got a webpage of resources up now:We will continue to add to that page as we identify more resources.
