Free Remote Software for Nonprofits During COVID-19

Resources for NonprofitsWith most of us working from home, we’re relying on new ways to communicate, connect, and manage our work. Looking for applications beyond Zoom? Here are some software programs developed to help organizations remain efficient while operating remotely. These resources are currently available for free and will remains so throughout the anticipated duration of the COVID-19 pandemic, making them options for nonprofits.

An important note – this list does NOT imply an endorsement by Four Rivers, but we wanted to be sure you were aware of these products should they meet your current needs.

Boardable

Boardable is a management software program developed specifically for nonprofits and their boards. During the COVID-19 pandemic, nonprofit boards and committees need to keep communicating, meeting, and making decisions. To do so, they will begin working and meeting remotely, many going “paperless” for the first time. Running virtual meetings is not the same as in-person meetings; they require different tools. All nonprofits everywhere will now have access to use Boardable for free for up to 90 days (you’ll need to sign up by the end of April) with no cost or commitment. This offer includes unlimited users, meetings, committees, and documents.

Cisco Webex

If you’re being asked to work remotely, Webex can keep your team connected on any device, enabling you to keep work moving from anywhere. Cisco is providing free 90-day licenses to businesses who are not Webex customers in this time of need.  They are also helping existing customers meet their rapidly changing needs as they enable a much larger number of remote workers by expanding their usage at no additional cost.

Need video conference support? 8×8, a unified communications vendor, announced new features for its free standalone video app., 8×8 Video Meetings. This includes unlimited usage, calendar plug-ins to schedule meetings directly from Google Calendar and Outlook, and real-time closed captions and transcription.

Zoho Remotely

Zoho Remotely enables you to take your work remote by offering a complete suite of web and mobile apps that will help you communicate, collaborate and be productive. The Remotely suite of cloud apps includes a video conferencing tool, shared documents and its Cliq team chat tool. Zoho has made this app collection available for free until July 1.
