To celebrate Historic London Town and Gardens' 50th Anniversary, this year's lecture series will connect our past, present, and future. Kicking off the series, our Executive Director, Rod Cofield will paint the story of London Town's founding in 1683 and explain its rise and fall as a critical port town in Colonial Maryland.​ Free for members or $10 for non-members All attendees must register in advance. Virtual Lecture – Finding the Maryland 400: Maryland’s First Heroes

Owen Lourie chronicles the story of the Maryland 400, the soldiers from Maryland who saved George Washington's army at the Battle of Brooklyn in August 1776. This talk describes their actions, including their famous last stand against the British. It also follows the lives of some of the soldiers after the war. These soldiers were enlisted and trained in Annapolis, and included Sgt. William Sands, a native of the city. Sands's letters home, written just before the battle, are featured here.
