Pop-Up Butterfly Lecture

Join a Pop-Up Lecture on “How our Butterflies Came to Be” and “How to Get Them Back Again.” Guest speaker Dick Arnold will explain the “Flight of the Monarchs.” Stroll beautiful Pollinator Gardens and Historic Site of Historic Linthicum Walks as you enjoy light refreshments.

Jane Austen Tour

Tour of the Hammond-Harwood House that compares the customs and social graces of the Loockerman family, who lived in the Hammond-Harwood House in the early 19th century, with those of characters in Jane Austen novels.

Colonial Cocktails: Citron Water & Fish House Punch

From punches to bounces, syllabubs to juleps, colonists imbibed a wide variety of alcoholic beverages. At Colonial Cocktails, you’ll get to make and enjoy two historical drinks and learn about colonial tavern culture. This month, we’ll make citron water, a refreshing lemon cordial and Fish House Punch, an exclusive drink from the longest running men’s social club in the English-speaking world, the Schuylkill Fishing Club. 

​Cost to participate is $25 for members and $33 for non-members. ​Participants must be 21+. Limited seats available. Pre-registration is required.

The Perils and Challenges of African American Cemeteries in Maryland

Join the Captain Avery Museum for a day of discussions about endangered cemeteries and the challenges that they face. Presentations by Elinor Thompson and Dr. Elgin Klugh. Some featured cemeteries include: Laurel-Defunct, Loudon Park, Mt. Harmony, Simon Hill, St. Anne’s, Tanyard/Franklin Cemetery and more. This event is free to attend.

Historic Goshen Farm’s 8th Annual Fall Open House

Free Admission to Historic Goshen Farm’s 8th Annual Fall Open House includes presentations such as Birds of Prey – Raptor’s Eye, Eye in the Sky – Unmanned Aerial System -Drone with Tim Tumelty of AACC, Soil Pit with Dean Cowherd, and Broadneck Community Library – Story Walk. Tours of 1783 House and Hoop House will be virtual due to COVID Restrictions. Visit the many Gardens including the Pollinator Garden and Monarch Waystation, Sharing Garden, Henson-Hall Slave Garden and the Wildlife Pond. Learn the sweet Pleasures of Beekeeping. Lunch will be available for purchase.

Banneker-Douglass Museum Grand Re-Opening Block Party

The Banneker-Douglass Museum is back! Come join them on Saturday, September 18th for a Grand Re-Opening Block Party! BDM has been closed since March of 2020 and is now re-opening with a brand new exhibit; Freedom Bound: Runaways of the Chesapeake, which explores resistance and freedom from the past, present, and future. Enjoy music, food, shop local Black-owned businesses and much more! This event is FREE to the public.

Architrex Walking Tour

Explore 300 years of architecture in historic Annapolis, the museum without walls, with an architectural historian during this varied and informative walking tour. Highlights of the tour include the Shiplap House, the Paca House, Patrick Creagh House, Hammond Harwood House, and the Chase Lloyd House.

Cost to participate is $22 for Adults and $10 for Children (11 and under). Architrex Tours are presented in partnership with Watermark.

Live-stream Interview with Artist Greg Wyatt

Part of the Mitchell Gallery’s newest exhibit, A Season of Shakespeare: Bronze Works by Greg Wyatt, this interview, followed by a Q & A period, will offer insights on Wyatt’s inspirations as seen in his sculptures of Shakespeare’s characters, as well as the collaboration and production of bronze sculptures. This event is free to attend.
