Virtual Lecture – America’s First Daughter: Patsy Jefferson

  • Date: Tuesday, March 2
  • Time: 7:00 pm
  • Location: Online
  • Host Organization: Historic Annapolis

Much of what we know about Thomas Jefferson is what his daughter Patsy Jefferson allowed us to know. Find out why that is when New York Times bestselling author Laura Kamoie discusses the history behind and writing of her novel, America’s First Daughter, about the contributions, sins, and sacrifices of the eldest daughter of our nation’s third president. From Monticello to Jefferson’s White House, Martha “Patsy” Jefferson Randolph shaped the legacy of a nation. Please note, it is not necessary to have read America’s First Daughter to enjoy this lecture!

Registration is required. Cost to participate is $15 per household for General Admission or $10 per household for HA Members and Volunteers.

Virtual Event – Gravestone Art, Symbols, and More

Your next visit to a cemetery will never be the same. Tina Simmons, a long-time member of the Anne Arundel Genealogical Society has been researching cemeteries for as long as she has been a member. Last year using grants from both the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County and the Trader Foundation of Maryland, she created a booklet and website featuring various aspects of cemetery art from around Anne Arundel County. In this talk, she will show additional examples from cemeteries she has visited both locally and from around the county. See examples of the different styles and examples of art (iconography) that can be found in cemeteries.

Anne Arundel Genealogical Society will email the Zoom link  to members the day before the meeting. If you are not a member of AAGS and would like to attend, please email at [email protected] to receive a link to the program.

As always, be sure to check the Four Rivers Heritage Area Events Calendar for the latest updates.
