Mr. Paca’s Garden: Summer Storytime, “Shapes in the Garden”

  • Date: Tuesday, June 22
  • Time: Program, 10 – 11 am; Garden Time, 11 – 11:30 am

  • Host Organization: Historic Annapolis

Join Historic Annapolis on six Tuesday mornings this summer for storytime and fun activities in the William Paca Garden, a secret treasure in the Historic District of Annapolis. Each program is designed for little ones (4-7 years) with a book reading, song, craft/art project, and free time in the garden. Shapes can be found everywhere, even in a garden! Can you find the star shape in the Holly Parterre? Join us in a scavenger hunt of all the different shapes in Mr. Paca’s garden.

Cost to attend is $10 per Child and $5 per Adult for General Admission; $8 per Child and Free for Adults for HA Members and Volunteers; $5 per Child and Free for Adults for Family Circle Members. Register in advance.

Archaeology Tour of the Gresham Estate

  • Date: Wednesday, June 23, Thursday, June 24, and Friday, June 25
  • Time: 2:00-3:00 pm
  • Location: The Gresham Estate, 784 Central Avenue East, Edgewater
  • Host Organization: Historic London Town House and Gardens 

Discover the history of the Gresham Estate, London Town’s newest site. Located about 10 minutes from London Town, the Gresham Estate dates back to the late 17th century. Owners have included everyone from actual pirate William Cotter to Commodore Isaac Mayo (for whom the Mayo Peninsula is named) and more. Following your tour, you’ll have a chance to speak with the archaeologists and students from St. Mary’s College conducting the first ever archaeological investigation of the site.

Cost to participate is $7 for members and $10 for non-members. Pre-registration is required as availability is limited.

Colonial Cocktails: Syllabub & Usquebaugh

From punches to bounces, syllabubs to juleps, colonists imbibed a wide variety of alcoholic beverages. At Colonial Cocktails, you’ll get to make and enjoy two historical drinks and learn about colonial tavern culture. In this session, we’ll be revisiting a favorite in Syllabub, a frothy cream dream made with cider, and exploring Usquebaugh, a spiced whiskey.

Cost to participate is $25 for members and $30 for non-members. Participants must be 21+. Limited seats available. Pre-registration is required.

Tides & Tunes Summer Concert

  • Date: Thursday, June 24
  • Time: 7:00 pm
  • Location: Annapolis Maritime Museum, 723 Second Street, Annapolis
  • Host Organization: Annapolis Maritime Museum

The Tides & Tunes Summer Concert Series offers 10 weeks of popular music–from rock to folk to blues–with the incomparable backdrop of the Chesapeake Bay. Concerts are free; however, donations are gratefully accepted. Food and spirits are available for purchase. Beverage sales support the Museum’s education program. Bring a chair or blanket. The June 24th concert features Timmie Metz Band f. Tambo. Concerts are free; however, donations are gratefully accepted.

Architecture Tour

  • Date: Saturday, June 26

  • Location: Hammond-Harwood House, 19 Maryland Ave, Annapolis
  • Host Organization: Hammond-Harwood House

The Hammond-Harwood House offers a two hour in-depth tour of the architecture of the house. Price to participate is $20. To make a reservation call: 410-263-4683 x10.

Teen & Adult Workshop: Colonial Fabric Dyeing

Using natural dyes, design your own silk scarf. Colonists coveted silk and loved beautiful, brightly colored garments, so join us to learn the art of fabric dyeing during the colonial era.  You’ll be guided through the intricacies of dyeing with indigo, turmeric, and cochineal. Then create your own masterpiece to take home.

Cost to participate is $30 for members and $35 for non-members. Participants must be 13+. Limited seats are available, so pre-registration is required.
