Virtual Lecture – The Women of Chateau Lafayette

During this virtual lecture, Stephanie Dray presents her novel The Women of Chateau Lafayette. New York Times bestselling author Stephanie Dray is renowned for novels about the “Founding Mothers” of the United States of America, most recently depicting the life of Adrienne Lafayette, a mother of two nations. Her diligent research for The Women of Chateau Lafayette has revealed previously buried truths that help re-shape the way historians and the general public views historical figures and events. She posits that writers of historical fiction have helped build a stronger understanding of history and she will explain how and why they do it.

Registration is required. Cost to attend is $15 per household for General Admission or $10 per household for HA Members and Volunteers.

Learning at London Town: London Town and the Sea

Life at sea is the life for me! This month we’ll learn all about the lives of sailors in the Colonial Chesapeake. We’ll try our hands at navigation, figure out how to stay busy on a long sea voyage, and join our crewmates in a battle against marauding pirates!

Pre-registration is required. Due to space restrictions, availability is limited. Cost to participate is $8 for member children, grades 1 – 4 or $10 for non-member children, grades 1 – 4.

Creating Cultural Connections on Virtual Platforms

A surprising benefit of moving performances to virtual platforms is the increased possibility of creating deeper cultural connections, according to Phil Wiggins, blues harmonica master and a 2021 Heritage Award winner. Join Phil for this webinar, in which he describes his experience in adjusting to the online format, where he has found more opportunities for engaging in intimate, sometimes challenging cultural dialogues during his performances. This event is free to attend.

Charles Willson Peale Walking Tour

  • Date: Saturday, April 17
  • Time: 11:00 am – 12:30 pm
  • Location: Old Treasury Building, Maryland State House Grounds, Annapolis
  • Host Organization: Hammond-Harwood House

Take a tour of Annapolis’s historic district, where the painter Charles Willson Peale’s world has been preserved. Walk starts at the Old Treasury Building on the grounds of the Capitol. Guests will also receive complimentary admission to the Hammond-Harwood House, where 15 paintings by Peale and other members of his family are on view.

Kick Gas: Earth Day Week EV Show

  • Location: Michael E. Busch Annapolis Library, 1410 West Street, Annapolis
  • Host Organization: Annapolis Green

This electric vehicle mini show, brought to you by Annapolis Green, will feature a number of EVs brought by their owners who are looking forward to discussing the EV driving experience with you and to answer your questions. COVID-19 protocols will be observed. This event is free to attend.
