Singing and Praying Bands of the Chesapeake Region

Join the Women’s Day Conference Committee at Asbury United Methodist Church of Annapolis as they kick off the Conference weekend with possibly the oldest African American Tradition in America – The Singing and Praying Bands of the Delmarva.
Led by Reverend Jerry Colbert of John Wesley United Methodist Church of Annapolis, this sacred tradition continues in the Chesapeake region. Once practiced by thousands the numbers of participants are between 40 – 50 members.
Come out and witness this tradition of musical ministry, no instruments, only a Capella, created hundreds of years ago by the oppressed.
