Regulatory Rollbacks: Undermining Bay Restoration

July 28, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Take one brick out of a foundation, and it is barely noticeable. Take enough bricks out, and the entire building can crumble. This is happening to the rules that protect our nation’s water, air, and natural resources—and it is bad news for the Chesapeake Bay and human health. Dozens of regulatory rollbacks have been proposed and finalized over the last few years. These rollbacks will strip protections for thousands of miles of wetlands and streams across the watershed, allow more air pollution that harms our health, disproportionately impact communities of color, and create a system that limits the consideration of science and doesn’t consider climate change at all.

Join the Chesapeake Bay Foundation Federal Office for a discussion of environmental rollbacks and how they affect the Bay and communities within the watershed. We will cover the basics of relevant clean air and water regulations, the importance of achieving the goals of the Chesapeake Clean Water Blueprint, and what rollbacks could mean for achieving Bay restoration goals by 2025.

Speakers include:

  • Denise Stranko, CBF Federal Legislative and Policy Manager
  • Katie Morgan, CBF Federal Outreach and Advocacy Manager
