Early 19th Century Women: What Were They Thinking?

September 8, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

A look at the lives of four Maryland women-Frances Loockerman, Rosalie Calvert, Priscilla Bond, and Susan Gale.  Although all were married to wealthy landowners, each experienced tragic loss as well as enjoying their family’s great progress. How did they reflect the values and interests of the evolving American culture? They left legacies for us with the houses they made into homes; the letters and diaries they wrote; and the courage with which they faced pain, ruin, loneliness, and infidelity.
