Clean Water is a Right: Equity and Environmental Justice Around the Bay

August 11, 2020 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

While unprecedented social restrictions make CBF’s bimonthly Brock Environmental Center Learning Series impossible to do in-person for the time being, the issues remain as important as ever.  So we are moving this popular series online, increasing the number of available seats—and making the program monthly!

Ensuring the meaningful involvement of all persons regardless of race, color, national origin, or income is critical to ensuring equity for all. Join CBF and a panel of elected leaders and community advocates for perspectives on recent environmental justice victories around the Bay watershed. We will also discuss where this critical conversation needs to go in the coming years.

Speakers:

  • Congressman Donald McEachin
  • Majority Leader Charniele Herring
  • Nansemond Tribal Councilwoman Nikki Bass
  • Meryem Karad, Policy Advisor to Virginia’s Secretary of Natural Resources
  • Taylor Lilly, CBF Staff attorney for Environmental Justice

We hope you will join us for this important conversation on how we can all help ensure a clean environment is a right for all.

CBF’s Brock Environmental Center Learning Series is presented with support from Jean Jenkins and Mike Newell.
