New COVID-19 Loans Available – Maryland Small Business Development Financing Authority

A new low-interest loan program is available to small businesses throughout Maryland that have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Nonprofits are not eligible for these funds, but since many of our partners and supporters are for-profit enterprises, we wanted to make you aware of this opportunity. Maryland Nonprofit Recovery Initiative (NORI) Now Open!

The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is administering up to $40 million of the Governor’s $50 million Nonprofit Recovery Initiative (NORI). The remaining nonprofit funding will be administered by the Maryland Department of Commerce. Of the $40 million being administered by DHCD, up to $30 million will be for nonprofits whose mission and work is focused on the economic development and economic recovery of Maryland communities as well as those nonprofits that focus on the health and human services and housing of underserved Maryland populations. For any of our partners still in need of funding for PPE or other equipment or services to help your organization pivot from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Anne Arundel Small Business Customer and Employee Protection (CEP) Grant Program application deadline is this Friday, July 24. Eight Maryland Heritage Areas Authority Grants Awarded to Local Heritage Projects

The Hogan administration recently announced that 114 matching grants totaling $5.1 million were awarded to Maryland nonprofits, local jurisdictions, and other heritage tourism organizations by the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority (MHAA). These FY21 funds support heritage tourism projects and activities that draw visitors and expand economic development and tourism-related job creation throughout Maryland.
