Upcoming eventsWith sites beginning to open again to the public, there are new opportunities for you to get to know our local heritage partners.

Here are some taking place in the Four Rivers Heritage Area this week, both in-person and online.

Virtual Workshop: Land Conservation 101 for Landowners

Have you thought about conserving your land, but aren’t quite sure what that entails? Anne Arundel County landowners are invited to join Scenic Rivers Land Trust for an online Land Conservation 101 Workshop. Scenic Rivers staff will teach you the basics of conservation easements, suggest options specific to your property, and provide answers to your questions.  This workshop is geared toward landowners with 10 acres or more.

Colonial Cocktails: Bounce & Bumbo

From punches to bounces, syllabubs to juleps, colonists imbibed a wide variety of alcoholic beverages. At Colonial Cocktails, you’ll get to make and enjoy two historical drinks and learn about colonial tavern culture. This session will explore Bounce, a pleasant concoction of fruit-steeped brandy, and Bumbo, a common rum punch.

Participants must be 21 or over. Members: $25/Non-Members: $30. Pre-registration is required and attendance is limited to 20 attendees.

Virtual Lecture: The Maryland State House: History and Restoration

Maryland’s State House is the oldest state house in continuous use in the United States and served as our young nation’s capital for 9 months. Michael Day, Senior Vice President of Capital Projects at HA, will present an insightful lecture on the Maryland State House and the state-of-the-art restoration of the Old Senate Chamber.

Cost for the lecture is $15 per household for General Admission; $10 per household for HA Members & Volunteers. Registration is required.

Children’s Tie Dye Tote Workshop

Design your own London Town inspired tie dye tote bag!  Learn the art of fabric dyeing during the colonial era. Take a walk through the gardens and see some of the natural materials used to make dye. Then create your own modern tie-dyed masterpiece to take home.

Cost of the event is $20 for Member Children/$25 for Non-Member Children. Pre-registration is required and attendance is limited to 20 attendees.

ArchiTrex Tour

  • Location: Tour departs from Market Space Park, 25 Market Space
  • Host Organization: Historic Annapolis

Explore 300 years of architecture in historic Annapolis, the museum without walls, with a professional guide during this varied and informative walking tour. Highlights of the tour include the Shiplap House, the Paca House, Patrick Creagh House, Hammond Harwood House, and the Chase Lloyd House.

Cost for the tour is $18 Adults and $10for children under 11. Register in advance. ArchiTrex Tours are presented in partnership with Watermark.
