A Special Year-End Appeal

It’s that time of year! It’s time for year-end appeal letters, and our organization is no exception. Here’s our message:

This year, the Four Rivers Heritage Area proudly celebrated its twenty-year anniversary.  While this milestone provided an opportunity to reflect on our impact over the past two decades, the staff and Board of Directors of the Four Rivers Heritage Area are equally excited and enthusiastic about the future.

We are especially thankful that in 2021, the Four Rivers boundary amendment was approved and we were able to expand our footprint to include even more heritage partners, including museums, historic homes, trails, and parks.  The expansion includes the North County African American Trail, three recreational trails, clusters of sites in the mid-county region and in Jug Bay, and twelve new stand-alone sites! We look forward to supporting these sites and telling a more comprehensive story about Anne Arundel County history and heritage.

Since its certification as a Maryland Heritage Area in 2001, Four Rivers has achieved significant milestones. Our organization has brought more than $6.5 million in matched grants for local projects totaling more than $22 million. In 2021, Four Rivers provided Mini-Grants to new projects from nine local heritage organizations. Our engaging “Story Project” has shared stories about Highland Beach, an African American Mutual Aid Society building in Deale, Hispanic programming at the Chesapeake Children’s Museum, and more. And in the new year we will mark the fifteenth annual Maryland Day Celebration in the Four Rivers Heritage Area.

We thank you for your past support and ask that you consider extending your support with a donation of $25, $50, or $100 today.  Every donation, no matter the size, helps to sustain our unique heritage community, so that our stories, buildings and places, our cultural landscapes, our traditions and our quality of life will last and sustain us through many years to come. Please visit our Support page to support Four Rivers today!
