The Hearth Broom's Tale

I sweep the ashes from the hearth
To keep the dwelling safe from harm.

Yet I have value far beyond
The daily tasks of hearth and home.

So listen to my hearth broom's tale
That my true worth you may avail.

It's all in how I'm placed you see
To let all know what's going to be.

When straight and tall is how I stand
I am at rest prepped for command.

And when I do lie on my side
My master knows I'm set to ride.

But when my brushes stand up tall
Fair warnings go to one and all.
