Anne Arundel County Courthouse Museum
The purpose of the Anne Arundel County Courthouse Museum is to introduce the public to the significance of the 1824 courthouse in the community's rich history.
Museum programming has included two public dramatic presentations in the second floor courtroom based on events that took place in the courthouse. On the ground floor of the courthouse in a room designated as a museum, the committee has mounted two exhibitions. The first focused on the history of the courthouse building and its expansion in 1999. Today, an exhibition there highlights three court cases that reveal the role of the courthouse in the every day life of the community.
The museum's overarching goal is to bring visitors into the courthouse in order to enliven and enrich their appreciation for the role of Annapolis in the state's rich legal history, and the role of the community in the development of the law. It actively seeks to work with other Annapolis heritage and educational organizations to further this mission.
